Summary of the Asia 2008 Summit for Telecom
To get a little background, I found an interesting forum that the ITU (International Telecommunication Union, a United Nations initiative) held in 2008 that focused on Asia. The Speakers included both private and public sector individuals from China, Malaysia, Japan, France, the US and many more. They focused on the next generation of users, the youth and how best to tailor telecom to their needs in such a huge market.
Almost ironically, the chairman for the discussion entitled "Security, Privacy and Trust - Who Protects Whom? And from What?" was from China. Ironic, because China routinely violates the rights of individuals in favor of social oppression.
However, the panelists range from the US to international bodies like the UN to countries like Singapore.
It's also telling that many of the speaker for China came from Hong Kong and not mainland.
